Customer service is one of the biggest pet peeves I have. I have worked in the restaurant business for 7 years but honestly it doesn’t even take long to know how to give appropriate customer service. The worst case scenario is when someone starts off with being rude but not because of something you did. Now this can be hard to deal with because not only are they rude, but maybe it’s something out of your control.

But let’s backtrack and mention 3 easy steps when you’re interacting with anyone on any level.

  1. Smile the whole time you’re saying these steps.
  2. “Hi!”
  3. “How are you?”

These steps will get you very far. You would be suprised how many people do not introduce themselves this way. The bigger the smile and the chipper you seem, the more inviting by nature you will appear. Everyone loves a positive person even when they don’t feel happy themselves. In fact by one person being nice, it can help someone else to feel the same. The situation is the same when someone comes up to you in a rude way, you feel defensive and are rude back by nature.

Well, I really just wanted to do this small intro to Customer Service. If you understand this and do this on the regular, you understand the basics. This is a tip for anyone anytime they meet another person. It’s honestly a mindset and so many just don’t interact this way.
